Dental Implant
What is Dental Implant?
A dental implant is a system designed to replace a missing tooth. It consists of a small titanium screw (base) that is fixed in the jaw to act as a stable permanent tooth root. It creates a strong, fixed and durable foundation for a dental crown, bridge or denture. The artificial tooth (crown) is attached to the screw by means of a superstructure.
What are the advantages of dental implants?
- Dental implants do not require filing of adjacent teeth, as is the case with the bridge, and are relatively well accepted by the body.
- Dental implants are absolutely comfortable and do not require removal at night, as is necessary with dentures, for example.
- Bone can be protected from resorption by replacing tooth roots with dental implants. Once a strong bond is established between the bone and the implant, it can provide the same function as a natural tooth root: a strong foundation for biting and chewing and stimulating the jaw to preserve its bone
- Dental implants restore your smile and improve your self-esteem
